On Thursday 28th January we visited the Principality Stadium in
Cardiff as part of our 'Wonderful Wales topic.' We had a really enjoyable tour
of the stadium which used to be called the Millennium Stadium.
First of all, we went into the 'Press Room'
which was named after Ray Gravell. We all had our photo taken before going into
the home and away changing rooms. In the home changing rooms, we saw some of
the welsh rugby jerseys hanging up. In the away changing rooms we saw some tops
belonging to the welsh football players. A few of the names we recognized were
Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ledley.
Afterwards we walked through the tunnel the
players run out from. Music was playing loudly as if it were a match day.
Later on we were able to sit in the best seats
in the stadium. These were made of leather and were very comfortable. This is
where members of the Royal Family sit and very special guests. Frankie
Azzopardi sat in Princess Kate’s seat, Shay Brunnock sat in Prince William’s
seat and Lucy Davies sat in the seat the Queen uses when she visits the
stadium!
We learned that birds of prey are used to stop
other birds nesting in the roof. The main type of bird used is the Harris Hawk.
Our tour guide said that we asked
sensible questions and we were very well behaved.
We also had a bus tour
around the centre of Cardiff before going to Cardiff Bay. We passed lots of
different buildings, like the Museum, the BBC Studios and the church where
Roald Dahl was christened. We even saw a statue of Boudicca! Before our tour
ended we noticed a primary school that looked very different from our school –
it had lots and lots of grass and an upstairs!
We learned lots from this trip and we all had a lovely time!
