Weeks 9 and 10 Hometasks

Hi class, wow what a long 3 months it’s been! Not long now though until school opens back up in some small capacity.  Keep your work, jokes and comments coming in though, as I’ve absolutely loved reading and looking at them.  It’s also great to see you interacting with each other on j2message… let’s keep that up!

With all the news stories coming out about zoos and animal parks, I thought it would be great to focus our next two weeks on the animal kingdom and the wonderful creatures we share our planet with. See the attached work on our class page of the blog.

Just a little note, obviously when you have submitted the work to me via HWB, don’t forgot to check the speech bubble icon at the top of the task you have submitted, as this is where I put the ways forward and make general comments on your work. Also it’s nice to chat to each other again!

Believe it or not, there’s now only 6 weeks until the Summer Holidays, and that will be here in no time!

I am really proud and pleased with the effort that you are making with the tasks, da iawn ti!!

See you soon hopefully

This week Dyfed and Zoe are introducing a composer of their last opera....Puccini.....
Have a listen to Dyfed telling you about him especially his name....click on the Opera with Dyfed and Zoe on the right hand side.

After looking through all the work you have completed I only found 1 Martyn Evans picture so I thought you should all see it. I think it's amazing, well done Lexi! When you have completed your pictures please send them in so we can add them to your class page. Sir and I think the pictures make the blog look amazing.

Monday 1 June 2020

Hello boys and girls, I've been experimenting with j2e - camera. We'd love to see your creations, make sure you share them and I can download them to put on your class page.
I've added some extra craft sessions to Crafting and Drawing on the right hand side. I would love it if you had a go and posted pictures of your makes. I can then put them on the class page for all to see.

Week 7 and 8

Hi class, great effort on completing your work for the last 6 weeks.  I’ve absolutely loved reading and looking at your wonderful work.  Not only that, but the majority of you also respond to my comments and then make the changes needed, so a big thumbs up from me.
What a beautiful half term we’ve had, the weather has been spoiling us! I really hope that you’ve had the chance to get outside and enjoy it as a family.
Let’s get back to doing some tasks shall we? See the attached work on our class page of the blog.
Just a little note, obviously when you have submitted the work to me via HWB, don’t forgot to check the speech bubble icon at the top of the task you have submitted, as this is where I put the ways forward and make general comments on your work. Also it’s nice to chat to each other again!
Believe it or not, there’s now only 7 weeks until the Summer Holidays, and that will be here in no time!
I am really proud and pleased with the effort that you are making with the tasks, da iawn ti!!

There is also a  lego challenge on j2homework

Wednesday 27 May 2020

Hello boys and girls, I've been looking at the work you've handed in so far and I thought it would be great if I put them together in some photo collages to see what everyone else has done. When work is done I'll add more collages. 😍👏 Well done everyone you've done a great job!

Weeks 3 and 4 Hometasks

Please scroll down the page to see the hometasks.
Hello boys and girls, I thought it might be nice to have some craft time with me. On the right hand side of the blog is a new page called Crafting and Drawing. I would love you to take a look and if you fancy, have a go. I have included videos (a first for me!) and look forward to seeing your designs. I will be adding more as time goes on. I've tried to use things you might have at home but please improvise with other items, don't ask parents to buy them.  If you want to try things out but don't have any of the items let me know via email and I'll give other suggestions.
Below are the things I have done so far....

Home Tasks

Homework for Mr Hall’s class
Hello year four and five, I hope you have all enjoyed the Easter holidays and have been able to enjoy some of the lovely sunshine we have had. I am missing you lots and am hoping that we can all be together again soon. Until then, I will be setting you some homework to do each day.
Please use the same rules that we follow in class. Take your time to read the homework carefully. Remember to write or draw your work neatly in your book. Check and edit your work to make sure you haven’t missed anything out or made any mistakes. If using the computer, save your work using a sensible name. Always try your best.
In the homework grid are two activities for you to try to complete each day. Most are tasks that you can finish the same day. However, there are a few that either follow on to the next day, or to the next week.

You have all been given your HWB and My Maths user names and passwords, but if you are having difficulty please e-mail me on         maesycoedprimary82@gmail.com
Sometimes you will record your work in the book we provided, or on HWB using either j2write or Office 365 for Word or PowerPoint. Please remember to save your work.

I would also like you to try to do two of the bottom ‘Daily Five’ activities if possible. These are reading, maths practise, keep fit, being creative and helping someone out with something.

Ideas for Daily Five
Reading Ideas -any books, magazines or newspapers you may have at home. Reading or listening to e-books online (go to www.oxfordowl.co.uk and register for this free site) Browse the eBooks. Reading recipes, instructions for games, information on the school blog or any other text you have at home.
Maths Ideas – everyday maths such as telling the time, money and measures. Possible questions - What time does this tv programme start? How long did it last? What will the time be in 45 minutes? How long is it until you go to bed? How much does this cost? What coins / notes can I use? How much is this item plus this item? How much change would I have? What is the total weight of these two tins? How much flour do we need to make this? How many pop bottles would make 2 litres?
Keep Fit Ideas – Daily walk, jog or run, Joe Wicks PE work out, exercises in the garden, skipping, dancing, circuits in house or garden.
Being Creative Ideas – drawing, painting, collage, making junk models, building with Lego or any kind of blocks or sets, singing songs (www.outoftheark.co.uk) or (www.youtube.com) making actions, dancing, acting and performing.
Helping someone out  – think about what people could need help with, such as, mowing the lawn, cleaning the dishes, hoovering, walking the dog etc!

Eisteddfod

Today we celebrated our Eisteddfod. We sang the song 'I Bob un sydd ffyddlon' and  recited the poem 'Sbwriel' on the stage. We created artwork in the style of Martyn Evans and held a handwriting competition on our poem 'Sbwriel'

Big Pit

Today we went to visit Big Pit in Blaenavon as part of our topic on coal. It was very cold and extremely windy when we got there but that didn't stop us from having fun. We looked around the museum at the machinery the miners used, saw the canaries in the lamp room and went into an interactive show which had loud bangs and noises. It was very informative and fun following the miner on the screen around the show. After lunch we went down the mine. We put on hats with torches and a heavy belt that had a battery and breathing apparatus. We went 90m down to the coalface and the miner took us through the mine showing us how they worked years ago. We are the right age to work the doors in the pitch black for 12 hours but we decided school is better!

Tuesday 28 January 2020

Today, Year 4 celebrated all things Spanish in Ponty High School. We made frittatas, sang songs and created a conversation in front of a green screen. We had an amazing time with other schools and made new friends too!

Forces

For our science lesson we looked at Forces. We investigated different forms that Forces took and how it was used in different items. Predictions were made and then observed. Some forces came as a surprise to us when we observed them. The forces we investigated were:
Gravity, magnetic, electric, pushing, pulling, winding and twisting.
We really enjoyed the investigation!
