Llancaiach Fawr

On Wednesday 1st October our class visited Llancaiach Fawr, a manor house built in Tudor times.
During our visit we found out lots about the everyday life of the Tudor people in Wales. We went inside different rooms in the house. In the kitchen, Alfie had to be the ‘spit boy’ turning the spit. In one of the bedrooms, Keira was able to play with a ‘cup and ball’ and in the study, Ben was able to hold a large sword.
When we visited the servant’s hall we made our own herb bags using some cloth, string and a selection of pleasantly scented herbs.
We had chance to try on some Tudor clothes and see what the fashion was like at the time. We were also able to sit in the stocks! It’s a shame we didn’t have any rotten tomatoes to throw!!
We learned lots from our visit and a good time was had by all!
