Visit to Cog Moors Environmental Centre

As part of our topic on the environment, we visited Cog Moors Environmental Centre.
First we talked about the many ways we use water. We found out that the average water use for one person is 150 litres per day! Next we did an experiment to find out how much water we waste. We were very shocked to learn just how much water one dripping tap can waste! We also found out about the different ways we can save water.
Later on we had a tour of the water treatment works, where we saw the water being cleaned at different stages. In one part it was very smelly and some of us had to hold our nose!
In the afternoon we did a little test to find out what can be safely flushed down the toilet. We learned that the only things you can flush safely down the toilet all begin with the letter P! Can you guess what they are?
We had lots of fun & learned lots about water efficiency.
