Welcome to Mrs King's Class

Our topic last term was ‘Horrid Henry and his Family’. It was all about the Tudors. During this term we found out about the life of Henry VII, Tudor homes, food and entertainment, the life of Henry VIII and health. We completed lots of work and have created some lovely wall displays in the classroom.

Pontypridd Museum

On Thursday 16th October our class visited the museum in Pontypridd. We attended a workshop based on different forces in Science. Mr Gwyer welcomed us & we were divided into five groups. We were allowed to handle all of the equipment and investigate how different forces work. We learned lots about forces whilst having fun at the same time.

Llancaiach Fawr

On Wednesday 1st October our class visited Llancaiach Fawr, a manor house built in Tudor times.
During our visit we found out lots about the everyday life of the Tudor people in Wales. We went inside different rooms in the house. In the kitchen, Alfie had to be the ‘spit boy’ turning the spit. In one of the bedrooms, Keira was able to play with a ‘cup and ball’ and in the study, Ben was able to hold a large sword.
When we visited the servant’s hall we made our own herb bags using some cloth, string and a selection of pleasantly scented herbs.
We had chance to try on some Tudor clothes and see what the fashion was like at the time. We were also able to sit in the stocks! It’s a shame we didn’t have any rotten tomatoes to throw!!
We learned lots from our visit and a good time was had by all!
